CHAPTER 23

Arsyn

I WOKE UP FEELING WARM and cushioned by great, big fluffy clouds. I snuggled deeper into the blanket that was pulled up around my face, taking a deep breath of the cinnamon scented air.

Wait, cinnamon?

“Shh… turn the volume down. You’ll wake her up.” Ordered a whispering Zach.

The sound of gunfire and grenades lowered a few notches as a grumpy Killian replied, “Bro, she better wake up soon. The smell of that cinnamon roll is killing me. She has about five minutes before I eat it myself.”

Huh, well that explains that.

In a sleep croaky voice, I rumbled menacingly, “Touch my cinnamon roll and sleep with one eye open, Killian.” I rolled over and almost fell of the lounge, the only thing that stopped me was Kill sitting on the floor in front of me. Instead of landing on the floor, I was now cuddled around Kill’s neck and shoulders.

“Hey babe,” he said, casually pressing a kiss to my cheek while keeping his eyes on the screen and his fingers flying over the controller.

“Hey,” I replied back shyly, glancing at Zach and Eli sitting on the other arm of the couch. “How long was I out? I don’t even remember falling asleep.”

Eli smiled at me, not involved in the game. “After about twenty minutes of reading, I carried you inside.” He checked his watch. “And you were out for three hours. It’s almost four.”

I thought back to yesterday. Four was better. Yesterday, my midday nap had been just over five. My stamina was coming back.

I devoured my cinnamon roll and watched my guys kill each other, with the loser handing the controller to the watcher. The entire time, I wondered where Talan was. I was seriously missing that guy.

“Hey Zach, do you happen to know where my phone is?” I asked, wondering if they ever found it from that night.

“Yeah, want me to grab it?” He asked, already heading around the couch. He turned back as he reached the stairs. “I’m going to make some tea, want some?”

“That would be great, thanks,” I replied as I watched him head up the stairs. He came back down and handed me my phone, before heading back up to the kitchen.

It was off, so I switched it on, waiting for it to power up. My finger traced over a scratch in the corner of the case that I didn’t remember being there before.

Once it turned on and found signal, my mouth fell open as it started dinging over and over again with messages.

The noise of the game stopped as Killian and Elijah looked at me, chagrin lining both of their features. Oh, this ought to be good.

Apparently, I had six new voicemail messages and—eighty-seven text messages! I’d never felt so popular. My eyes widened as I clicked into my inbox. There was a group chat with all four of my guys and single messages from them and the twins.

I figured the voicemail would be quickest, so I dialed into that first.

You have six new voicemails.
